Advocacy is simply speaking up for you, another person, or a cause. You were an advocate when you were a baby and cried for food, you are an advocate now when you go to bat for your child, neighbor, or friend. Advocacy addresses all communications and actions intended to build awareness, understanding and support for the mission of a nonprofit organization or the nonprofit sector itself. Advocacy activities include lobbying public officials; education and information directed to a specific audience or general public, and community networking.
